Our Story
A Light in the City, A Lifeline to the Lost.
From January 2024, a quiet but powerful movement has been taking root under the umbrella of the Church Underground Network of Churches (C.U.N.C), which is part of the Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC). This movement, known as Sundays Unplugged, began as a small, informal gathering of believers who craved something real—something unfiltered, undistracted, and Spirit-led.
Meeting in the modest classroom of Lambton College, this group didn’t look like a traditional church. There were no pews, no formality, no pressure. Just people. People with questions, people with hurts, people with hope. We met weekly to share life, explore Scripture, worship freely, and build a family rooted in the love and grace of Jesus.
Over time, this group began to grow—not just in number, but in depth. Lives were being transformed, young hearts were being stirred, and the vision was becoming clear: God was planting a church. Not just a meeting, not just a moment—but a mission.
In June-2025, what began as Sundays Unplugged was officially launched as Lifeline City Church—a local church that would continue operating as part of the Church Underground family but with its own identity, leadership, and outreach focus. As an affiliated congregation under the Canadian National Baptist Convention (CNBC), Lifeline City Church is now part of a broader fellowship of like-minded churches committed to advancing the Gospel across Canada and beyond.
Why the name “Lifeline”?
Because that’s what it became for many:
A lifeline for college students trying to navigate life.
A lifeline for families seeking community and purpose.
A lifeline for believers hungry for the presence of God.
A lifeline for the spiritually curious who had given up on religion but not on hope.
Lifeline City Church now operates with the same heartbeat as its roots—raw worship, honest conversations, biblical depth, Spirit-filled prayer, and a passion to reach the city. The Sundays Unplugged spirit lives on in its approach: laid-back, real, relational, and radically Christ-centered.
As part of the Church Underground Network of Churches and the CNBC, Lifeline City Church remains connected to a broader vision of multiplying disciple-making communities across the nation—empowering ordinary people to live on mission in their everyday lives. This dual affiliation gives Lifeline the freedom to remain grassroots and organic, while being supported by the resources, accountability, and missional alignment of a larger family of churches.
This is just the beginning.
The story of Lifeline City Church is not about a building or a brand.
It’s about a people. A movement. A calling.
And a God who still plants churches in the most unexpected places… one lifeline at a time.
Why Lifeline City Church?
Our Vision – Who Are We?
Lifeline City Church is a Spirit-led, Christ-centred community rooted in real faith, raw worship, and relational mission. We exist to be a light in the city and a lifeline to the lost—reaching students, families, and seekers with the love of Jesus. More than a church service, we are a movement of everyday people living on mission, one lifeline at a time.
Our Mission – How do we accomplish it?
We create space for real connection, honest faith, and Spirit-led growth—reaching people where they are and empowering them to live on mission with Jesus, every day.
