Our Beliefs

A Light in the City, A Lifeline to the Lost.

THE SCRIPTURE

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final rule for faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21

THE GODHEAD

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14

THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory. John 1:1–14; Romans 8:34; Acts 1:11

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is empowered to live a godly life. We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues and the operation of the gifts of the Spirit. Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:7–11

SALVATION

We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. It is received by repentance and personal faith in His death and resurrection. Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10

THE CHURCH

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ and the family of God, composed of all believers. The local church exists to glorify God, edify believers, and evangelize the world. Ephesians 1:22–23; Hebrews 10:24–25
We affirm that Lifeline City Church is open to all individuals regardless of background, ethnicity, or current belief system. We welcome anyone to attend our services, explore the Christian faith, and engage with the church community.
And a God who still plants churches in the most unexpected places… one lifeline at a time.

However, formal church membership is extended to those who personally confess faith in Jesus Christ and affirm agreement with the church’s core beliefs and Statement of Faith. Membership signifies a commitment to walk in biblical unity, accountability, and active participation in the life and mission of the church

ORDINANCES

We believe in two ordinances instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ for His Church:

Water Baptism: We believe in baptism by immersion in water, following a personal confession of faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward transformation—identifying with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. It is a public declaration of faith and obedience to Christ. Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3–4

The Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion): We believe the Lord’s Supper is a sacred act of remembrance of Christ’s death and anticipation of His return. The bread and cup symbolize His body and blood given for our redemption.
Participation in the Lord’s Supper is reserved for baptized believers who have examined themselves in light of Scripture. This reflects the biblical pattern where believers were baptized first and then continued in fellowship, including breaking bread. 1 Corinthians 11:23–29; Acts 2:41–42

THE SECOND COMING AND ETERNITY

We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, eternal life for believers, and eternal separation from God for the unbelieving. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17; Revelation 20:11–15

MARRIAGE

We believe that marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God, established between one biological man and one biological woman. This union is a lifelong commitment that reflects the relationship between Christ and His Church, as revealed in the Scriptures.

Biblical Foundation:

Marriage is defined as a union between a biological man and a biological woman, as created by God in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:18–24). Jesus reaffirmed this definition in Matthew 19:4–6, stating that marriage was designed by God as the joining of a man and a woman, and it is to be a permanent union.
The biological distinction between male and female is affirmed throughout Scripture and is central to God’s design for marriage. In Genesis 1:27, God created humankind in His image, male and female, and declared His creation to be good.
Marriage is a reflection of God’s divine order and His intention for complementary roles within the union of husband and wife (Ephesians 5:22–33).
The Church upholds the belief that gender is determined by God at creation and cannot be changed (Genesis 1:27).

Purpose of Marriage:

The purpose of marriage is to establish a covenant relationship between one man and one woman that mirrors Christ’s relationship with the Church (Ephesians 5:31–33).
Marriage is designed by God for companionship, mutual support, and the raising of children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Genesis 1:28; 2:18; Ephesians 6:4).
Through marriage, God’s plan for the family and society is fulfilled, with the husband and wife working together to reflect His love, holiness, and creativity.

Sexual Purity:

We believe that sexual intimacy is a gift from God, meant to be enjoyed within the context of a marriage between a biological man and a biological woman (Hebrews 13:4).
The Bible calls all believers to abstain from sexual immorality, and the union of husband and wife is the only appropriate context for sexual relationships (1 Corinthians 6:18–20).
Any form of sexual activity outside of this God-ordained union, including same-sex relationships and behaviors, is contrary to God’s design and biblical teaching (Romans 1:26–27; 1 Corinthians 6:9–10).

Marriage and the Church’s Teaching:

The Church upholds and teaches that marriage, as ordained by God, is exclusively between a biological man and a biological woman. Any deviation from this definition is seen as contrary to the biblical understanding of marriage and family.
This teaching includes a commitment to supporting and honoring marriages, providing pastoral care to those in marriage, and encouraging strong, biblically-based family structures.

PASTORAL LEADERSHIP

We believe that the role of the Pastor (Lead Pastor and Elders) is a biblically defined leadership position that is reserved for male individuals, as outlined in the Scriptures.

Biblical Foundation:

The Bible teaches that the leadership of the church, particularly the roles of elders and pastors, is designated for men. In 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9, the qualifications for elders emphasize that these leaders are to be men who are spiritually mature, capable of teaching, and living above reproach.
Elders and pastors are described as the husbands of one wife (1 Timothy 3:2), which affirms the male gender for these roles. The Bible also reflects that women are not to exercise authority over men in the church (1 Timothy 2:12). This is understood within the context of the biblical roles and responsibilities assigned to men and women, with men being called to lead in the pastoral and teaching offices.
The teaching ministry of the church, particularly preaching and teaching, is entrusted to men who meet the biblical qualifications and are called by God to shepherd His flock.

Purpose of Male Pastoral Leadership:

The role of pastor is to provide spiritual leadership, preaching, teaching, and guidance to the church body. As men, pastors are to model Christlike leadership, humility, and sacrificial love for the church (Ephesians 5:25–30).
Male leadership in the pastoral office is consistent with God’s design for the family and the church, reflecting the role of Christ as the Head of the Church and the husband as the head of the wife (Ephesians 5:23).
The Church recognizes the value of women in ministry but maintains that the pastoral office is specifically for men, according to the biblical pattern.
